Graylin Covington, Clifton Sanctuary Ministries

A veteran, Graylin was in his 50s when he had heart surgery and came to Clifton Sanctuary Ministries to recover. His homelessness stemmed from his drug addiction, and the former electrician found himself in need of a new career path due to his health condition. After arriving at Clifton, he began a job retraining program as soon as he was able. He stayed at Clifton for two months to fully recover, then became a resident at Clifton’s transitional housing facility, Joe’s Place.

Within six months, Graylin was the resident manager at Joe's Place, and found a job in ITT at the Veterans Administration. He and his ex-wife reconnected and remarried! Graylin continued his amazing success story by returning to school and completing two degrees. Graylin even started his own transitional housing program for veterans, Direction House.

In fall of 2018, HomeAid completed a renovation of Clifton’s emergency shelter and window replacements at Joe’s Place. HomeAid has also held four Care Days at Clifton since 2015. Learn more about our projects.
