March Care Days Make Major Impact
More than 60 volunteers join HomeAid Care Days in March 2023
Atlanta – April 6, 2023 – HomeAid Atlanta, founded in 2001, is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education. Each year, HomeAid Atlanta completes ten or more HomeAid Care Days, volunteer workdays providing free-of-charge maintenance and more for organizations that serve families and individuals in need. In March, HomeAid Atlanta competed two major Care Days with over 60 volunteers engaged in building a future without homelessness.
More than 30 volunteers joined a HomeAid Care Day at Calvary Refuge Center in Forest Park on March 17. Volunteers from BOMA Georgia, Pinnacle Financial Partners, and Ameris Bank painted both the men’s and women’s emergency shelter dorm rooms. North Georgia Exterior Cleaning visited Calvary prior to the Care Day to clean off the roof and gutters and pressure wash. Calvary Refuge Center provides a safe, faith-based environment for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
On March 24, more than 30 volunteers from Lennar Atlanta and Complete Permitting Services joined a HomeAid Care Day at Gwinnett Housing Corporation (GHC) in Norcross. The group completed demo, cleanout, and landscaping to kick off a HomeAid remodel project. Lennar is leading the work to renovate this structure, which will become GHC’s Affordable Housing Resource Center, providing education and assistance to low income families on their path towards homeownership. Magic Touch Construction Services generously donated 2 dumpsters and 24/7 Concrete provided materials and labor in setting the footers at the site.
Altogether, these Care Days provided a total savings of nearly $16,000 for the two organizations served. Savings like these allow Calvary and GHC to spend less on facility construction and maintenance and more on the people they help who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

HomeAid Atlanta has plans for at least eight more Care Days in 2023.
