Bank of America Packs 1,000 CareKits

Atlanta – October 19, 2023 – On Thursday, October 5, Bank of America employees in Kennesaw packed 1,000 HomeAid CareKits in just a few hours. CareKits are building industry nonprofit HomeAid Atlanta’s hygiene kits, containing items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, socks, and more.

These items are often in great need by people experiencing homelessness. While there are programs to help those in need with food, there is no public safety net program providing assistance with these essential hygiene items. Without partners like Bank of America to help HomeAid provide these CareKits, people living on the streets would simply not have these everyday items.

With support from Bank of America, HomeAid Atlanta has packed a total of 16,500 HomeAid CareKits since 2014. Included in that number is 7,400 CareKits packed by metro Atlanta Bank of America employees. The CareKits program was established nationally by HomeAid in partnership with Bank of America in 2013.

The October 5 CareKits were donated to Crossroads Community Ministries and Intown Cares, two organizations that offer outreach and services for people experiencing homelessness in intown Atlanta.

“Thank you so much for the great donation of HomeAid CareKits!  Our cupboards were bare, so it came at just the right time!” said Tony Johns, Executive Director of Crossroads Community Ministries.
