The Drake House, 2015

This total renovation and expansion project was led by HomeAid volunteer builder captain Vince Longo of Vincent Longo Custom Builders. In addition to Longo’s countless hours on the project, members of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association donated generously of their time, talents and materials to the project. Improvements include a 1,000 square foot expansion that includes a Teen Center, a ‘Mom’ Classroom and expanded food pantry space, as well as a complete office overhaul for ADA compliance.

HomeAid provided a savings to The Drake House of approximately 50 percent on construction costs. Coupled with the efforts of The Drake House, the total project savings adds up to more than 66 percent. This important project will greatly aid The Drake House in their work to provide short-term crisis housing, education, and empowerment programs for mothers with children to overcome the obstacles that brought them to homelessness. This critical programming will help these ladies rebuild their lives.
