Essentials Drive

What is the Essentials Drive? The Essentials Drive is HomeAid’s annual community-wide drive to collect “essentials” such as diapers, baby wipes, baby food and formula for homeless infants and toddlers. The drive, held annually since 2002, is conducted in conjunction with Mother’s Day, providing a great opportunity to help homeless mothers and their babies. Sadly, an estimated 7,500 people in Metro Atlanta are homeless on any given night and almost 50% are women and children. Thanks to the support of people like you, this drive has collected over a million essential baby items, assisting hundreds of moms and babies in the metro Atlanta area. Thank you Atlanta for your overwhelming support of the 2018 Essentials Drive (April 30 - May 8). Approximately 200,000 Essentials Drive items were donated to 25 metro Atlanta nonprofits serving homeless children and families, with a value of almost $35,000 – the most successful Essentials Drive to date!

What people are saying about the 2018 Essentials Drive:

"Thank you for the recent drive and subsequent delivery of needed items to our shelter. We currently house around 85-100 children and were in desperate need of pull-ups, larger diapers, and hygiene items, among the other items brought by HomeAid Atlanta. As a shelter, we rely on the generosity and support of organizations like HomeAid to be able to provide services continuously and safely to our clients. Without being able to meet the basic physical needs of our children, we would not be able to work beyond that to meet their social, emotional, and educational/developmental needs. This allows us to work with children and their families to reach a place where they are no longer concerned for day to day necessities, but contributing to society and living lives that go beyond their next meal, diaper, or bath. Thank you so much for your professionality and support! We are hopeful that you will continue the work you do so that we can continue to partner with you in creating a better future for these children and their families." - Stacey B. Jones, Children's Services Leader, Atlanta Mission

"We received many, many donations from the Essentials Drive. On behalf of City of Refuge staff and residents, we would like to say thank you so much. HomeAid Atlanta has truly gone above and beyond in supporting our families here at City of Refuge. Thank you for supporting our mission and bringing light, hope and transformation to our families that are in need." - Regina Holloway, Residential Service Advocate, City of Refuge
